Inshore
October can be a good month for fishing with the weather cooling down and the mullet run in full effect. I like to start the morning with top-water lures or jerk baits on the flats, creeks and the banks of the ICW. Look for feeding fish and birds and you should find redfish, snook, jacks and ladyfish feeding on the mullet. If bait is your thing cast net mullet and use them under a popping cork or on a ¼ oz jighead. Flounder bite should pick up at the inlet and the creeks holes. Use a ¼ oz jig head with a live mullet or try a scented paddle tail.
Surf & Inlet
With the mullet run the surf and inlets will be awesome fishing for the next couple months. Look for big redfish, snook, tarpon and sharks crashing on the mullet in the surf and around the jetties at the inlet. Try buck tail jigs and big swim baits for the live bait anglers try live or cut mullet on a knocker rig. Pompano, flounder and sheepshead bite should pick up this month with the cooler weather. Use pompano rig with your favorite live bait or the fish bites work really well too.
Offshore
Hit reefs from the 10-20 mile range for Grouper, Snapper, Seabass and possibly Cobia and Amber Jack. Troll from spot to spot for Sailfish with a Ballyhoo or your favorite trolling lures, do the same if you fish the ledge for dolphin and wahoo.
